Smart meters, SCADA systems, robots, sensors and trading desks all produce one thing in common: measured data. Its value only appears once it is connected — reliably, in real time and at scale. That connected space is the meterverse.

Sovereign AI — AI that stays with you
My current approach carries the meterverse principle over to artificial intelligence: an open integration stack built on European AI providers such as Aleph Alpha and Cohere, enabling municipalities, energy companies and mid-sized businesses to run their own AI applications — with European data residency, GDPR compliance and no vendor lock-in. The initiative runs under the name SouverænAI.

Uli Schulze-Eyßing
Solution Architect, consultant and open source enthusiast based in Bochum, Germany.
For more than 30 years I have been designing and building enterprise-grade systems — from middleware for gas management control systems in the 1990s, through SOA and integration platforms for energy traders and retailers, to cloud-native data platforms for smart metering, industrial IoT and service robotics.
I have built and led consulting units and competence centers, served as lead architect for publicly funded research platforms, and advised executive boards on technology strategy. Today I lead integration teams in the energy sector.
I build on proven open source foundations — Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Camel, ROS — rather than proprietary lock-in: community innovation, transparency and cost-effective technology for industry and research alike.
